The Sensor-Online™ IoT platform has received an upgrade, now supporting ChirpStack 4.0+. This new major version introduces numerous improvements compared to ChirpStack 3. One significant change is the replacement of the old HTTP integration with the more efficient gRPC protocol.
gRPC utilizes the Protobuf (protocol buffers) messaging format, which is highly compressed and efficient for serializing structured data. For certain use cases, the gRPC API proves to be a more efficient alternative to a REST API.
We have initiated the migration process from ChirpStack 3 to ChirpStack 4 for various client accounts. These clients have requested the upgrade to keep their Lorawan server and software infrastructure up to date. Moreover, the ChirpStack GUI has undergone a major overhaul in version 4. This update brings a more user-friendly experience, making it easier to work with the system and providing users with better control and information. If you have any further questions or need assistance with the migration, please feel free to contact us.
Be prepared for the future, go with Sensor-Online 🙂
